Do you charge for estimates or service calls?
No. Phone estimates are always free. For bigger jobs that need an on-site look, that visit is free too — you only pay once you decide to book the work.
What's your minimum charge?
Every visit starts at $150, which covers the first 2 hours on site. Extra time beyond that is billed at $50 per hour, rounded to the nearest half hour. See pricing for typical jobs.
Do you handle permits and licensed work?
Sal is a handyman, not a licensed electrician or gas fitter. If a job needs a permit or a licensed trade, like electrical or gas work, Sal will tell you upfront so you can book the right person.
What areas do you serve?
Ottawa, Nepean, Kanata, Orleans, Barrhaven, Gloucester, and Stittsville. See the Kanata, Barrhaven & Nepean and Orleans pages. If you're just outside that list, call and ask. It may still work.
Do I need to supply materials?
Either way works. Sal can pick up materials and add the cost to your invoice, or you can supply them yourself if you already have something specific in mind.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Most jobs get a same-day callback and are usually scheduled within a few days. Urgent fixes (leaks, doors that won't lock) are prioritized — just say so when you call.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, e-transfer, or card. Payment is due when the job is finished, not before.
What if the job takes longer than the estimate?
Sal will tell you before going over — never after. If a job runs past the estimate, you'll get a heads-up and a revised number so there are no surprises on the bill.
