Flooring Installation in Ottawa

Laminate, luxury vinyl plank and tile installed flat, tight and finished with clean trim, in basements, bedrooms, bathrooms and whole floors.

Flooring Sal installs

  • Laminate: durable and budget-friendly for bedrooms, living rooms and basements
  • Luxury vinyl plank (LVP): waterproof, which makes it a top pick for Ottawa basements, kitchens and bathrooms
  • Porcelain and ceramic tile: for bathrooms, entryways and laundry rooms
  • Baseboards, quarter-round and transitions: the finishing details that make a floor look professional
  • Old flooring removal: carpet, padding, staples and old tile taken out and the subfloor prepped

Basements: choose waterproof

Ottawa basements sit on concrete that can be cold and damp, especially in spring. Laminate with a wood core can swell if it gets wet. For basements, luxury vinyl plank over a proper underlay is usually the safer choice. It handles moisture, feels warmer underfoot, and survives the occasional spill or minor leak. Sal will check the slab before installing and tell you if moisture is a concern.

Why prep decides how long a floor lasts

Click-together floors look easy, but most problems, like squeaks, gaps, and planks that lift or separate, come from an uneven subfloor or no expansion gap at the walls. A proper install includes levelling low spots, the right underlay, expansion gaps hidden under the baseboard, and undercutting door casings so the floor slides in cleanly instead of being caulked around.

How pricing works for bigger projects: renovations and flooring are quoted as a project after a free on-site look, so you know the total before anything starts. Small fixes use the regular rate: $150 covers the first 2 hours, then $50 an hour. See pricing.

Quick Answers

Common questions

What's the best flooring for an Ottawa basement?
Usually luxury vinyl plank over a proper underlay. It's waterproof and handles the damp concrete better than wood-core laminate.
Do you remove the old flooring?
Yes. Carpet, padding, staples and old tile are removed and the subfloor is prepped before the new floor goes down.
Do you install baseboards and transitions?
Yes. Baseboards, quarter-round and transition strips are part of a finished install.
How long does it take?
A single bedroom is often a day. A whole basement or a tiled bathroom takes longer. You'll get a time estimate with the quote.
Do I need to buy the flooring?
Either way. You can buy it, or Sal can pick it up and add it to the quote. Order about 10% extra for cuts.
